Welcome to Ashurst

Council meetings are normally held at 7.30pm in Ashurst Village Hall, unless stated otherwise. Agendas are published in advance of each meeting on the parish website and displayed on the parish notice board.

Ashurst is a small village in the West Sussex Weald with sweeping views of the South Downs. It forms part of Horsham District and is rich in history and rural charm. At its centre stands the 12th‑century church of St James, where Laurence Olivier’s funeral was held. The village also has a primary school, the 16th‑century Fountain Inn, a modern village hall and a recreation ground used for cricket, football and dog walking. The parish covers 1,009 hectares and had a population of 279 at the 2011 Census. Ashurst has an active community, known for its annual Dog Show, Flower Show and biennial pantomime.
